Encouragement for Grandparents

Grandparents occupy a distinctive place in family life. There can be great freedom in the role, but also responsibility: grandchildren notice what we value, how we speak, and the faith that has taken root over a lifetime.

Encouragement for Grandparents reflects on that influence through Scripture and the experience of grandparents themselves. Its readings consider ageing with God, the faith passed from Lois to Timothy, the eloquence of a life worth imitating, forgiveness within family relationships and the spiritual inheritance one generation can leave another. Alongside the calling to invest in grandchildren runs an equally important thread: grandparents need their own lives to remain rooted in Christ if they are to give well to those coming behind them.
