The King of the Lonely

Loneliness. It’s a sense of emptiness, like something important is missing. Despite technology increasing our connectivity, people seem to be lonelier than ever.

Most of us are feeling it more of the time. It is the ache of feeling disconnected, invisible, somehow different to everyone else. Maybe we’ve simply changed, become sick, moved location or lost someone dear. Whatever the reason, we are left with no one to share our mind.

Perhaps that’s even what keeps us isolated; a reluctance to let people in for fear of what they
would think if they saw who we really are. Loneliness. Once we find ourselves in its grip, it can
become a self-perpetuating cycle from which it is difficult to escape.

But what if, at its heart, Easter is a story for the lonely? Not just a story about loneliness, but a promise of hope for those who suffer in this way.
