The Parables at a Glance (2026 edition)

Jesus’ parables are memorable enough to become part of everyday language, yet familiarity can make them easy to skim. The Good Samaritan, the prodigal son, the mustard seed and the wise and foolish builders still ask searching questions about God’s kingdom, discipleship, grace, judgement, money, prayer and the way we treat one another.

The Parables at a Glance offers a concise guide to the major stories Jesus told, paying attention to what He intended His hearers to understand. The parables are grouped around wisdom, Christian living, salvation, God’s kingdom, judgement and Jesus’ return, with each short introduction setting out the biblical context and helping you follow the particular truth Jesus is pressing home.

It makes a useful companion to Gospel reading: something to consult when a familiar story deserves a second look, or when one of Jesus’ stranger sayings leaves you wondering what to make of it.
