What is the role of the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is often the subject of much debate and confusion in the church. Yet the Bible is clear both about who the Holy Spirit is and what He does in our lives. 

What Is the Role of the Holy Spirit? begins with who He is. The Holy Spirit is God, one of the three Persons of the Trinity, present in creation and now dwelling within those who belong to Christ. He marks Christians as God’s own and continually directs attention towards Jesus: teaching, reminding, convicting and helping believers understand what God has done.

From there, this booklet considers what it means to be “filled with the Spirit” and to “walk in the Spirit”. These phrases describe the continuing work of allowing God to shape our thinking, character, relationships and priorities as we spend time in Scripture, prayer and Christian community.
